On Valentine's Day ex-president of Maldives Mohamed Nasheed slept in the High Commission of India in Male' after High Commissioner Mullay provided him refuge in the High Commission.
The former president of the Maldives said Wednesday he has taken refuge at the Indian Embassy after a court ordered his arrest.
Mohamed Nasheed tweeted that he took the step "mindful of his own
security and the stability of the Indian Ocean." He did not explain.
A court ordered police to
arrest Nasheed after he missed a February 10 court appearance in a case
relating to accusations that he illegally detained a judge during the
last days of his rule, a police spokesman said.
